One of only twelve accredited Oregon-Gillingham schools in the world, the Boyd Foundation was honored to fund the Boyd Foundation Building for Sandhills School.

Sandhills School is an independent learning institution for first through twelfth-grade students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Established in 1975, Sandhills is the only school in the Midlands nationally accredited by the Academy of Oregon-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. The Boyd Foundation was proud to fund the reconfiguration of existing spaces and a new building with six new classrooms, tutoring spaces, a multi-purpose room, and a science lab. These additions will allow Sandhills to continue to provide services to countless future students from South Carolina.

The Foundation donated $2.4 million dollars to Sandhills School to complete this project.

A facility for students of Heathwood Hall and community members to learn environmental education, team building, and leadership exercises.

PEAK, or the Pursuit of Environmental Adventure and Knowledge, is Heathwood Hall Episcopal School’s signature leadership program. It provides students with opportunities for wilderness exploration, environmental education, team building, and leadership exercises. Members of the public also benefit from the PEAK program; the facilities are available to other schools, churches and businesses for team building and recreational activities.

The Foundation funded $2.15 million to create the Boyd Foundation PEAK Center and to expand the Adventure basecamp ropes course.

A collaborative space for technology-oriented people to create high-tech, high-growth businesses while creating a culture of entrepreneurship in Columbia.

At the Boyd Innovation Center, technology-oriented people from all backgrounds and experience levels can meet, collaborate, and build high-tech, high-growth businesses with mentoring support from others in the industry. The goal is to create a culture of entrepreneurship and make Columbia attractive to high-tech companies with high-paying jobs. The Boyd Innovation Center currently houses businesses and serves as a catalyst for other projects in the Columbia technology world. It is the brainchild of MapQuest co-founder Chris Heivly and entrepreneur Joe Queenan and is located in the heart of 5 Points on Saluda Ave.

Connecting the Capital City Passage with the Wateree Passage so that hikers and bikers can enjoy the natural beauty of South Carolina.

The Palmetto Trail is a series of completed and proposed trails stretching five hundred miles through South Carolina from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Oconee County to the Intracoastal Waterway at Awendaw. The Trail allows hikers and bikers to enjoy the natural beauty of South Carolina. The Boyd Passage will expand the trail twenty-six miles to join the Capital City Passage with the Wateree Passage. After completion of the Boyd Passage the Trail will continue, uninterrupted, from Columbia to Awendaw.

The Foundation has committed $1.506 million to fund the completion of the Boyd Passage.
