Values
The values of the Boyd Foundation are rooted in the late Darnall W. Boyd’s strong desire to improve the quality of the lives of those who live, work, and play in the Midlands. Today, those values are championed by Board members through projects that enhance the outdoors, education, and the preservation of history, to make Columbia a better place to live. The Foundation's hope is to encourage young people to stay and live in the Midlands. The Foundation takes great pride in being hands-on with the projects it undertakes, providing insight and oversight. The Foundation seeks charitable projects where the impact of the time of its Board members and its financial contribution will be remembered and enjoyed for generations to come.
As of the end of 2026, the Foundation will have spent almost $65 million in support of projects it has underwritten.
